SKINS 'N' ALL PACK

Skin contact whites, orange wines, whatever you want to call them; they're awesome. While it's considered an ancient method of production, the myriad producers who've adopted the technique ensure that is now firmly rooted in the present-day.

2019 Arfion ‘Fever’ Field Blend

Minimal intervention, Skin contact
Varietal: Pinot Gris, Gewürztraminer, Riesling, Chardonnay, Savagnin, Pinot Noir
Origin: Yarra Valley, VIC

Textural, aromatic field blend from the ever reliable Arfion. Dry, almost Rosé-esque palate, if it wasn’t for the tea-leaf like tannins that give this wine great structure and balance - placing it firmly in the Orange category.

2018 Leeona ‘Bianco’ Toscana Bianco IGT Trebbiano Blend

Organic, Minimal intervention, Skin contact
Varietal: Trebbiano/Malvasia/Grechetto
Origin: Tuscany, Italy

An absolute cracker of a wine created as a collaboration between Italian import specialist QuelVino and an organic grower in Tuscany. Organically-farmed Trebbiano, Malvasia, and Grechetto, each spending 20 days on skins before pressing. Juicy apple flavours, with ginger and dried yellow flowers jumping out of the glass. Gorgeous golden colour; powdery green tea tannins. Serious stuff but so easy to like.

2019 Mallaluka Pinot Gris

Minimal intervention, Skin Contact
Varietal: Pinot Gris
Origin: Hilltops, NSW

The extended time on skins has pushed this otherwise orange wine into light red territory! With a nice glycerol texture that’s textbook Gris, there’s some caramelised orange peel and floral aromatics too. The palette shows crunchy red berries. A departure in style for the variety, but delicious all the same!
