Three of our favourite fresh but textural whites for winter. Drinkability through the roof right across the board:
2019 The Other Right ‘Counting Stars’ Chardonnay
Minimal Intervention Varietal: Chardonnay Origin: Adelaide Hills, SA
Energetic, detailed and clean natural Chardonnay from the Adelaide Hills. Ripe, fruit forward and balanced to an absolute tee. No added sulphur at any stage, and not topped up in barrel to open out some gentle oxidative notes. A wonderful example of Aussie natural winemaking.
This wine keeps getting better every year. Richness from some time in barrel but beautifully poised with zesty acidity and a salty freshness. Bags of citrus and orchard fruit with nutty and floral nuance here.
2019 Good Intentions Wine Co. ‘Shapeshifter White’ Sauvignon Blanc
Organically grown Sauvignon, left on skins overnight, then pressed and fermented in a mix of stainless steel and oak. Lifted, grassy aromas up front, and then it zips full speed into a bright and linear palate line. The ultimate thirst quencher.
